Information Advice and Guidance on Funding

There is a lot of help available to fund your learning, particularly if you are unemployed or on a low income. To help you find out what funding is available please click on the following links.

Career Development LoansIf you are looking to enhance your work related skills you may be interested in taking out a Career Development loan.

Education Maintenance AllowanceThese provide financial support to eligible 16 to 19 year olds whose date of birth is after 1 March 1989, who are from low income families and who undertake a recognised full time course of study, in a school or college.

Further EducationCourses below Higher National Certificate level (that is Scottish Credit and Qualification Framework level 6 or below) are classed as Further Education and are typically taken at college.

Higher EducationCourses at Higher National Certificate level or above (that is Scottish Credit and Qualification Framework level 7 or above) are classed as Higher Education. These are usually taken at college or university

ILA ScotlandThis national scheme is open to learners aged 16 years of age or over. Depending on your circumstances you may get up to £200 per year to help towards the cost of your learning.
