Shaun McElhone

Shaun McElhone (24), was homeless, in debt, and had drug and anger management issues when he went to live in Edinburgh Cyrenians’ City Community.

He took part in their People with Potential course and now has his own tenancy, is paying off his debts and is building a relationship with his young daughter.

Shaun had work placements at the Botanic Gardens and Edinburgh Zoo, where he helped develop the new tiger enclosure.

His commitment and enthusiasm lead to work with a small landscaping firm and Shaun plans to ‘graft hard’ and have his own gardening company within a few years.
