Sister Martina Boylan
Sister Martina Boylan
The need to learn IT skills in order to deal with urgent requests from people in the Congo and Uganda led 75-year-old nun Sister Martina Boylan to The Mezz learning centre in Motherwell.
Sister Martina quickly learned how to use a laptop, apply for grants, create newsletters and complete online documents.
She realised the benefits of her newly acquired skills and the social interaction at the classes.
Sister Martina encouraged older members of her church who have suffered loneliness, illness and bereavement to come along to the centre.
The Saturday morning classes have been a great success for all concerned.
Sister Martina is the Older Learner of the Year 2006.
