Learning by volunteering
People of all ages and from all walks of life become volunteers for all kind of reasons.
They have fun, get a sense of achievement, meet new people and do something different. And while they’re doing voluntary work, they’re learning.
You don’t need qualifications to be a volunteer, and it can be a great learning experience.
Volunteering can help you acquire new skills and develop the ones you already have. It can be a launch pad to getting a job for the first time, finding a new job or setting out on a different career.
Volunteers can access a whole range of training programmes to help them – and get skills that will help them in other ways. And you can find a volunteering opportunity to will suit the time you have available.
To find your local volunteer centre and access the opportunities available in your area visit www.volunteerscotland.org.uk, or call learndirect scotland free on 0808 100 9000.
